How to market your small business online
Over the last dozen or so blogs we’ve written at Practice Growth Agency, we’ve covered a plethora of digital marketing tips and tricks in a lot of detail, so for today’s blog we’re going to take a step back and look at the bigger picture when it comes to marketing your practice online. Hopefully those of you who are new to this blog use this as a jumping-off point to explore the aspects of marketing you find the most interesting in greater depth- as all the topics we cover today have been expanded upon in previous blogs! As we continue to explore every nook and cranny of the digital marketing world in these blogs, we’ll update this list, but for now, here are some easy tricks to get you started in marketing your practice online.
Facebook: As far as social media networks go, this is the big one. If you don’t have a business Facebook page set up, what are you waiting for? Over 2 billion people currently use the site, 80 million of these being businesses, so if you want to reach a good-sized patient base you should really be promoting and boosting posts. If you don’t have the budget to get Facebook to promote your posts for you, make sure you post frequently (at least once a day), write in a human and approachable voice and use lots of video!
Instagram: Although it doesn’t have the reach or user base of its big brother Facebook, Instagram is not to be ignored. Because of its visual nature, make your pics stand out but don’t shove your product down people’s throats- Instagram marketing works best when it’s subtle and integrated. Also, make use of the Story function on the site to give a human side to your business, and use lots of video!
Twitter: The last of the big three social media sites, Twitter works best when it’s used to direct potential patients to your website or other social media, or to interact with potential customers. People like to see businesses being active on Twitter, so tweet lots, retweet and like other users’ tweets and respond to any and all tweets about your business, positive or negative.
Understand SEO: SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is the process of getting your website to the top of a Google search, which is a lot trickier than it sounds. To attract the most potential patients, it’s crucial that you understand the process of SEO, which leads us to...
Keywords: Keywords are essential to getting the most out of SEO, so it’s important to make sure your website page titles, meta-descriptions and content contain the right keywords for your business. Research what keywords similar practices are using, and put them in the right places to get the best results.
Google AdWords: Google AdWords is one of the best ways to get your practice out there and seen by the right people. It's not the cheapest, but it’s incredibly flexible and user-friendly, and it has been proven time and time again to get results.
Blogs: Writing interesting and informative blogs is a sure-fire way to get your practice out there. Not only does it show off a human side to your practice, but a good blog can cement you as an industry specialist, giving you credibility whilst promoting your treatments or services.
Video: And last, but by certainly no means least, we have video. Creating entertaining, informative, short and mobile-friendly videos will skyrocket your interactions on all social media sites- and now is the best time to get on this, as by the end of this year over 80% of internet traffic will be video!
